Summer is the best season for vacations, sunbathing, and warm nights. For the automobile enthusiasts it's also the best season to check out the coolest car shows. Over next few months, there are several shows inthe greater San Diego area for the hot rod lovers to take a look at.
Car Shows in San Diego
Travel back in time to view some favorite classic autos. Every Thursday night this summer, over 400 cars will show off their beauty along La Mesa Boulevard. Each night, trophies will be awarded to four cars, one motorcycle and also one La Mesa Police Officer’s Choice Award. In addition to the auto eye candy, there is live music with DJ Jumpin’ Jack Flash, shops, restaurants, coffee houses and bars for entertainment.

For good food, wine and car viewing, travel to Julian on July 14th and 15th for the Classic Motoring Show. That Saturday, cars participating in the show will journey from downtown Julian to
Menghini Winery, where the festivities will take place. At the winery on the following day, the car show will exhibit vintage, sports, racing and classic cars as well as vintage motorcycles. All proceeds for this event will go to the Julian Medical Clinic.

For its 22nd year, Vista Rod Run will showcase over 300 classic cars, hot rods, and specialty vehicles on Main Street. These vintage rides will have opportunities to win prizes in categories such as Best of Show, Best Graphics, Best Paint, Best Longest Distance, Best Upholstery, People’s Choice, and much more. There will be food vendors along this main strip as well as a live band performing flashback tunes.

If you are a lover or an owner of a Woodie, then the Wavecrest Woodie Meet is where you should be this September. Once a year, hundreds of wooden-bodied automobiles come together at Moonlight State Beach in Encinitas. Trophies are given away for Best License Plate, Best Hot Rod, Best Sixty Surfer Woodie, Hard Luck and more. In addition to the Woodie admiration, there is live Hawaiian music, surfing, and barbequing.
