Not too far north of San Diego sits another city just as dedicated to auto events as we are. Irvine is about an hour’s drive up the I-5 freeway and frequently features tons of great auto events. Every Sunday, at the Great Park Farmers Market, is the Car and Bike Show from 11am-2pm. This free show features a 50/50 opportunity drawing, awards, and live music. Participants in the show also receive discounts from selected Great Park Farmers Market Vendors. Great Park is situated in the geographic center of Orange County within the city limits of Irvine, and accessible via the Interstate 5 and 405 freeways, and the 133 and 241 toll roads. From the I-5, exit Sand Canyon Avenue, make a quick right and then a quick left on Marne Way, and follow the signs to the show.
A little closer to home, the La Jolla Concours D’Elegance will take place in, yep, you guessed it, La Jolla, on March 30th, 31st, and April 1st. This event originated as the La Jolla Motor Car Classic and has since evolved into this full weekend event, which attracts thousands of car enthusiasts from all around the world. Friday will feature a book signing, Saturday, there will be a car tour and VIP evening reception, and the main event will be held Sunday. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the event, and children under the age of 14 are free. Or you can purchase a VIP ticket for $100, which includes one entry pass to the exclusive VIP area with complimentary food and beverages, and one commemorative program. This great event will take place in the beautiful La Jolla cove and feature over 150 cars and a tribute to the art of car restoration.
In May, once summer is pretty much in full swing here in San Diego, the Corvette Dreamin’ & All Chevy Car Show takes place.
