Love is in the air this week and we thought you might like to celebrate it with some of our favorite things: gondola rides, cheese and the sea. Check it out !
Take your love to Venice tonight for Valentine’s Day... or at least make them feel like they’re in Venice without ever leaving San Diego! The Gondola Company: Sunset Valentino Cruise is the ultimate romantic date night. Cruise in a private gondola with your sweetie through the beautiful canals of the Coronado Cays during the twilight hours. All you have to bring is your Valentine and a bottle of your favorite wine or champagne. Chocolate dipped strawberries, souvenir wine glasses, blankets, an ice bucket, and wine openers are all provided. The cruise lasts approximately one hour and you can also choose to upgrade and have a professional violin or mandolin player accompany you. Get in touch with them via their Twitter and Facebook pages.
If you love cheese as much as we do, this is the class for you. Venissimo Cheese is offering a “Get To Know Cheese” Course presented by fellow cheese-lovers Gina and Robby G. They will discuss the history of the cheeses, how they’re made, what to pair them with, ways to serve them, how to store them and so much more! You will also be able to taste generous samples of several different kinds of cheese, sip delicious complimentary wine and ask any questions you may have in an intimate and engaging setting. This class will take place Thursday, February 17th from 6:30-8pm in their downtown San Diego Shop at 871 G Street. Street parking and a pay lot on the corner of 8th & G are available. If you decide to purchase anything the night of your class, you will also receive a 10% discount! Get more info on their Twitter and Facebook pages.
Who doesn’t want to learn more about our beautiful oceans and how to protect them? The Birch Aquarium is currently celebrating Sea Days at Scripps, teaching about what’s going on at the cutting-edge Scripps Institution of Oceanography research. The third Saturday of every month from 11am-3pm, you can participate in monthly events focusing on current ocean topics with hands-on exploration, special activities and a chance to interact with Scripps Oceanography scientists. This Saturday, celebrate the CAL-ECHOES cruise by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and hear what the scientists have learned during their time on the ocean. There will also be story time and a take-home craft for the young ones. Check it out on their Twitter and Facebook pages.
