A Weekend Full Of Post-Turkey Day Fun In San Diego

Now that you have successfully stuffed your face full of turkey and all the trimmings, it’s time to get out of the house and enjoy some family fun events around San Diego! Check out some of the hottest hot rods around, give Mother Earth a tiny face lift, and learn how to brew your own beer, just in time for the holidays!

11-25-12

Don’t miss the first ever Goodguys Fall Del Mar Nationals happening this weekend, November 25, 26, and 27th at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Sure, you’ve been to the huge car show they put on in the summer, but now they’re making it a semi-annual event with another weekend jam-packed with hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, and trucks on display. The GoodGuys & the Wounded Warriors of San Diego will also feature a “Toys For Tots” toy drop sponsored by the US Marine Corps. All you have to do is bring a new and unwrapped toy donation and you will receive one coupon for each toy donated that is good for a $3 discount off general admission to the show. The show hours are: Friday: 8am-5pm, Saturday: 8am-5pm, and Sunday 8am-3pm and tickets are $6 for children or $18 for adults.

On Saturday, November 26th, from 9am-11am, take part in a beach (and street) cleanup sponsored by San Diego Coastkeeper at the Ocean Beach Jetty. Meet at Dog Beach and be sure to bring your own reusable bags, buckets, and gloves. The cleanup will still take place if it is lightly raining, however, if a heavy downpour occurs, it will likely be cancelled. You can call 858-792-9940 to see if the cleanup has been cancelled, or if it is still taking place. Be prepared to fill out a liability waiver upon arrival, as well as a data card of all the trash you pick up.

Home Brews and Gardens, located in North Park, offers a Brew Class every Saturday and Sunday starting at 12pm and this weekend is no different! Stop suffering through the watered-down, wannabe beer your friends are serving and brew a batch of your own flavorful beer. The class costs $20 and will cover the basic essentials of the brewing process, taught by a knowledgeable home brewer who is ready to answer any questions you may have about making your own beer at home. To sign up for the class, just come into the store and ask about the brew class, or you can call them and sign up over the phone at (619) 630-BREW. Brew a fresh batch just in time for the holidays!
